Congratulations!

Congratulations to Michaela Lake on her selection for the GB team taking part at the European 3D Field Championships in Tallinn, Estonia on 15th – 20th September.

Michaela was for some time an archery mum, one of the unheralded band of parents who spend most of their free time ferrying offspring to and from practise and tournaments.  Then she took over the job of County Records Officer for the Sussex CAA in late 2011, before asking if she could run our tournament diary.  She has performed both roles with outstanding and unfailing dedication, to the point where the diary has been referred to as “amazing stuff!” and “the bible” by its happy users.

Since taking her beginners course with us in January 2013, Michaela has developed a passion and talent for field archery (not to mention clout, in which she took the 2013 SCAS Ladies Barebow title at her first attempt).  Less than two years later she’s a GB international; so give it up, people, and shower your congratulations on one of the nicest and most talented people in Sussex archery.

November Challenge Winner

Congratulations to Sidonie Lake (Eastbourne Archers) for taking first place in the Junior Ladies Under 18 Barebow section of the 2012 GNAS November Challenge.

A regular at our indoor archery sessions, Sid shot her winning score at St Aubyns. Credit must also go to her new coach, Adam Stevens, who is lending his wealth of real archery experience to help Sid improve.

2012 Junior National Indoor Championships

Congratulations to Pip Tucknott on taking second place in the Under 18 Compound at last weekend’s Junior National Indoor Championships.

It was a mighty tight finish at the top. Pip’s score of 579 was one point behind the winner and just one point ahead of the two archers who finished joint third. A great effort by all concerned, despite the poor lighting at the venue.

Full results from the tournament can be downloaded from here.
